October is the heart of autumn. It is one of those months that is fun and happy and feels like a party. The Halloween holiday defines the month and crisp autumn air invigorates everyone. Apples, pumpkins, witches, candy corn and colorful leaves are the icons of October. It seems as if the entire month is a preparation for trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Leaves on the trees change into beautiful autumn shades and the foliage is picture perfect. Scarecrows appear on front lawns and apples are ripe for the picking. Farms all over welcome pumpkin pickers with hot apple cider and apple cider donuts. Costume shops pop up like daisies in spring time and Halloween party invitations go out.
October is a great month for carving a pumpkin, making a costume, playing game of chess, reading a Halloween book, telling a ghost story, raking leaves on the lawn, bobbing for apples, taking a bath and smiling.
