August Holidays to Celebrate this Summer

August 1st has arrived. Good-bye to July and hello to the last month of summer. There are lots of fun things to celebrate in August! In fact, today is Middle Finger Day –  An interesting way to kick-off the month. It’s also National Girlfriends Day and National Raspberry Cream Pie Day.

There are celebrities with birthdays who will be blowing out candles in August – like Gene Simmons, Mila Kunis, Pee Wee Herman and President Obama.  August is National Peach Month, National Golf Month and Get Ready for Kindergarten Month.

Some of my favorite August holidays are food related – like S’mores Day August 10 and National Watermelon Day August 3.   Being that I”m a sister, I’m also fond of Sisters Day which is the first Sunday in August.

One of the all-time great holidays for kids is National Tooth Fairy Day, August 22 – a day dedicated to the fairy who brings you money and takes your old teeth away. Pretty neat.
